System is definitely one of my all time fave characters. I remember way back some friends and I were trying to figure out what Drywall, Mess and little brother anti-chaos were actually saying, if each | and > stood for a letter. I think ultimately we gave up, figuring that some of them were either not standing for anything or may have been misspelled or maybe we just couldn’t figure it out. I guess this is the big chance to find out and win a 10-year bet, can the dialog all be decoded?
All of the Stuff collector language was actually based off of some kind of English. Very rarely was it ever random. If you look at any of the issues that have subtitles you can see how they match up.
I know I’ve posted here before in support of you finishing but it’s really refreshing for anyone to turn away from the money and fame of Hollywood (even for two months) and return to comics. I really wish Katsuhiro Otomo had your gumption.
Rob, I was wondering if it would be out of the question to create a Scud shirt of him saying “I’ll do it” (the pic from the first word of the return). To mark your return to the series and to the fans.
I went to my local comic shop today and made them swear to hold me a copy and call me whenever this book comes out. This may have already been addressed, and I know that you’re not wrapping up LCN, but how do you plan to handle that mad interlaced crossover?
Wil, the dotting is done with Ziptone sheets, they are basically sheets of plastic with those dot patterns on them, and you lay the sheet down against the paper and scrap the unsticky side with a knife, and the dots come off.
Its used a lot in Manga and stuff.
Ziptone sheets have gotten harder and harder to find, since one of the major manufacturers of them went under, and since everyone has started doing them digitally.
Take it easy buddy, slow down. You’re hand is gonna fall off. Are you like trying to break a record to single longest ending to a comic ever? I appreciate all the effort but you don’t wanna break this up into more issues?
Looks like this is gonna be a “sin city length” book after all. I say make it as long as it needs to be. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Art looks awesome. I have more faith in you than ever.
Issues 13-15 took Scud to a place nobody could have predicted, even for a storyline as random as Scud. System and Spider God had cameos that warped the brain. Spider God ending that scene by saying “What I’m about to tell you can not leave this room” is in the top three of Scud lines. There are a select few who have actually seen this epic 21st issue in it’s entirety. You may recongnize them by the way their eyes have bugged out of their head. Rob, all I want to know is which one is most likely to succumb to a bribe?
Rob, please forgive me if this has been asked/answered already, but will TALES FROM THE VENDING MACHINE, DRYWALL & OSWALD or LA COSA NOSTROID be included in the omnibus, and if not, are there any plans for those to be collected or rereleased (perhaps in a companion omnibus)?
Completist question: I have all the original printings of each issue, a couple copies of each trade, etc., etc. of Scud, but I was wondering if ANYone knew exactly how many printings each there were of each of the trades. I know of at least two printings of vol. 1 (black background/red background), two of vol. 2 (black/purple(with tattoo)); I would assume there are no more than one each of the last two. The second printing of at least the first volume had different “letters” pages and some sketch art, I believe, so I was just wondering if anyone had an exact count on how many printings of each existed so I can obsessively complete my collection. Also, how many reprints were there of issue #1? Was it three? One black & white and two color? Anyway, sorry this is so long. Rob, the pages are looking AMAZING, and I can hardly wait to see it all complete. Thanks again and good luck!

Bitchin’

so cool. I can’t even begin to imagine how great it will feel to hold this book in my hands.
I like the depth-of-field effect you’ve got there. Very nice.
At least 70? God damn, that’s hot.
Page 60 is now my new desktop. Looks great!

DAMN! I can’t wait for cops to start using the Scud book to beat thug ass instead of the telephone book!
What do you use for all that dot art shading? ..anyone?

Those creatures in the back look sweet. I’m glad to hear that the scud book has gone to 70 pages. This is goin to be SICK!
Thanks.. yeah, I see it alot in the manga I read. I like the way Rob uses it. It almost seems like late 60’s early 70’s.. it’s cool.
It looks to my mind suspiciously like a scene from the belly of a Sandcrawler, and that doth rock.
I know that the LCN aren’t a part of the SCUD story, and are being left out, but what about Black Octopus? Young Sussudio rocked.
Looks tight, Rob! I have a feeling that this final book will have some of the best art from throughout the series. I love it.
cheeses ROB!!!
“Page 60. At least ten more pages.”
Take it easy buddy, slow down. You’re hand is gonna fall off. Are you like trying to break a record to single longest ending to a comic ever? I appreciate all the effort but you don’t wanna break this up into more issues?
System was fantastic.
Jesus Christ though, 70 pages. Nice job Rob

I can’t wait.
I’m so excited for this! Thanks so much for doing this!

Kenny: No.
next time just read the older posts.
Thank you, Geoff…but which post, praytell, was that information in? Because the older posts only go back to March 11.
Kenny, you should check out the SCUD VLOG’s that Rob’s made… if you haven’t already. Check YouTube. He explains some schtuff in those.
Drywall:Unzipped will be included but not Nostroid or Tales.

Damn, this is shaping up to be pretty swish!
Are there any plans to update Scud.com with the release of the book? (may of been answered before… But there is so much to sift through)
Soon the Harvest will begin! Once I have Scud 21 in my possession none can stop me! Mwahahaahahah!
Good old system is looking as angry and in charge of hell as ever. Can’t wait to see how this showdown goes…. down.
wowzers, rob, I don’t know what to say.
after all this time, I thought #21 was never going to happen.
I’m so happy.
