Monster House Premiere in 3-D
Monday Kate, Todd (Short Mookie) and Sophie went to see Monster House for the first time. It said on the invitation “Wear your favorite Halloween Costume” so I went as Tron and Kate went as the Tooth fairy. Of course we were the only nerds that night but I wouldn’t have it any other way. To pull up at a Hollywood Premiere and step out of a Limo dressed like Bruce Boxleitner was totally rad. I met Matt Groening and Fred Willard. Said hi to Jason Lee and Jason Schwartzman. Ate a hamburger, took a shit and got the fuck out of there. It was fun, great and neat. I almost cried. Waited almost ten years for this movie.

I’m so happy you got to have this kind of moment and enjoy it. Also, that’s a fucking rad tron costume.
that is the greatest hallowe’en costume ever.
That’s great!
That costume kicks so much ass. You guys rock for actually dressing up.
For some reason, even before I knew you had anything to do with it…this is the movie I’ve been looking forward to all year. I was the only kid on the planet that had a Sega Saturn with one game, Scud the Disposable Assassin (how many asses are supposed to be in that word?) and would flip out over the audio CD comedy bits and music 24/7. Double thanks, Rob. This news pleases me.
Congratufreakinglations Rob!
Awesome costume! Did you buy that or make it?
Are you going to be at ComicCon?
I made Tron. I put a black unitard on a manequin and projected the Tron movie poster onto it with an overhead projector. Then I painted it with glow-in-the-dark paint. The helmet is just a hockey helmet painted black and detailed with more paint.
yep. I’ll be there.
Congratulations, Rob! This scenario usually ends up being a ‘studio-bought-our-screenplay-and-turned-it-into-a-piece-of-shit’ one, but I’m glad it turned out to be the opposite and such an all-around cool experience for you (Matt Groening and Fred Willard, Jasons Lee and Schwartzman…Man, I know you’ve met/befriended your fair share of cool folks out there, but those are some GREAT ones all in one night…and that kick-ass TRON costume!) I look forward to checking out the film soon, and hopefully some of you & Harmon’s humor will have shone through…I’ve read good things about it so far.
I wish I could make it out to San Diego this year, maybe missing it will finally get me to finish the Robot Bastard pinup I owe you…
‘Til then,
Cogratulations again,
~Ethan
so happy for you Rob! you and Kate look adorable.
Monster House is a sweet movie good work rob
Awesome pictures, really looking forward to seeing Monstar House and telling my friends, “I totally painted Robot Bastard for one of the guys that wrote this movie, and he said he loved it, I am better than all of you put together” and then watch them cry in their popcorn.
Can’t wait until you’re the director and everyone KNOWS its your party instead of being all “Oh no! Its the Writer! Run!”.
Hope you have a bitchin’ time at the Con and I hope Monster House does like 100 mil’ this weekend.
congrats on all that, rob. the fridge image is adorable. how’s jason lee’s beard doing?
Congratulations are definitely in order. I caught the film last night and it’s great! Enjoy the moment, you deserve it.
great flick! what were the tweaks in the script?
Whelp, it’s official, just like I thought../ loved the movie Rob. The 3D made me and my friends giggle with joy, and it definitely brought back that 80’s nostalgia of ‘Goonies’ and ‘Monster Squad’. Thanks man!
Congrats man, i just saw Monster House and loved it, i think i laughed more than my nephews. I hope this opens many more doors for you because the world loves your work and needs more of it. Keep up the good work.
P.S. The Tron costume rocks
You are very lucky to have parents that care about you. Welp, I guess you deserve it. Monster House came in #2 at the box office. I hope it does better than Aquaman on the second week. Rob, why do you hate me? We were friends once…so sad. Nice outfit to the premeire.
Ha, love those pictures. Didn’t see you at the con…consider yourself lucky…this time. I’m going to see Monster House tonight! Congratulations on the #2 slot!
Rob, you have the right attitude. That’s awesome.
Role model.
I can’t believe you dressed up as TRON! Wait, I do. Awesome.
You will live to be 120.
