Last Chapter of Scud will be over 100 pages.

Back on my old schedual of working on the Sarah show during the day and Scud at night. I’ve stopped trying to quickly finish up the book. I’m extremely happy with the quality I did this weekend. I did something I’ve never done before in the history of Scud the Disposable Assassin, I re-drew a page. I hated page 70 and I think that’s what stopped my groove. It was too important of a scene to just be a few panels. So I turned it into three pages. I;ve been doing that since January.

Happy Tuesday.

I’m sure everyone would rather it be finished well than be finished quickly. I’m glad the last issue is coming along and even more excited that it’s getting the attention it deserves.

You should probably just called it Scud 21, 22, and 23.

Thats awesome. I thinks its worth the wait if the quality is better. Its cool to see that your satisfied with your artwork. Keep up the good work rob!

Patrick, right now as of the last interview it’s on schedule for the first quarter of 2008.

Which, by all means is fine by me. I’d rather the emotion and work go into the book rather than into regrets after it’s published.

Scud and Ben and System and those angels must have some pretty deep dark secrets. I’m expecting to be blown away. Can’t wait.

100 page Scud? Wow. It’s nice to know you’re really putting a lot of care into this final issue, redrawing pages and everything… I honestly get more and more excited about this thing everytime you post something about it.

One thought: Now that the Comic Con is over and you have no real due date, have you considered doing the entire book in color? I know that would be a lot of work, and I know that you want to get it out soon (as do we), not to mention the fact that you’re a very busy dude, but man would it be awesome. I mean, is there any way Image staff could do it with you overseeing it or something? Ya know, to speed up the process while keeping in tune with your vision?

Yeah, I’m sure that’s a dumb thought. And that was definitely a run-on sentence. Either way, I still can’t wait, and it’ll be great in its classic black & white form too.

More pages sounds great. It’ll mean I can prolong the inevitable life without Scud even longer. Can’t wait to see them!

In thinking about people wanting the book out soon, and you wanting to take your time I had a rather interesting thought.

In 10 years, which will make you and everyone else happier, having a better book, or having one that was out quicker.

Like so many other fanboys have told you, Scud completely changed the way I look at comic books and had a pretty heavy influence on my own artwork and writing. I’m super stoked about the finale. I’m sure my fingernails will be reduced to raw nubs long before then though.

One thing I do think LONG overdue though is and animated Scud AND a sequel to Robot Bastard. I’ll bet from private fanboy funding alone, you could make both of those happen any time you like.

Hey Rob, cannot wait for this book to come out! Been a life long fan of Scud since it came out back in the day and have been keeping up with you every step of the way of the completion of one of the best comic books in history. PLEASE though, if you decide to actually do colour the book, have a B&W option. I honestly prefer reading Scud in black and white. I dont know why, but the colours take away from the mood and its quirkiness. The covers are cool to have nice n bright but please just save it for the covers!! Thank you sir, I admire your sacrifices on completing this beast, you’re an inspiration.

Wait. Color me retarded, but you’ve been working on page 70 since January, or did you just mean the entire issue? Like everyone else says, don’t worry about getting it done, worry about whether you’re happy with it and I’m sure we’ll be ecstatic with it. :D

No. I did page 70 a few months ago, stopped because I had to direct the Sarah Silverman program and now I’m back on track. And on page 74. Only 33 pages left, BRING ON THE PAIN.

I know you’ve mentioned releasing scud 21 with scud 1-20 as one huge ‘bible’, but what about people that already have scud 1-20, will there be a separate release for fans to just get the scud 21 behemoth?
    Either way i can’t wait!

There is a man in Chicago.

He likes to hang out by the train station.

He hands out newspapers and yells “Happy Whatever day it is.

Earlier this week was the first time I saw him.

    He said “Happy Tuesday.”

Please do a hardcover! I’m with Shane on the importance of releasing it as one big-ass book. Maybe you can sell more pages as well, my Ben Franklin vs. Scud page is gettin lonely on my wall. I can’t wait to lend this out to friends, as my single issues are all getting tattered from lending them out.
