Those clips look incredible! In 3D, I couldn’t imagine Scud looking different in ANY way. I can’t friggin’ wait to see Jeff. Your work is sick, man. Keep it up!
That looks even better than the cutscenes from the Saturn game. I mean, I know the technology has advanced quite a bit since then, but still. For just one guy, that’s impressive as hell to me. I can’t wait to see the final product.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I’m working on Roundhead at the moment so any further updates, you can catch them on my blip channel (http://neuropolis.blip.tv/) or YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Neuropolis). Shouldn’t be more than a week or two before the next update.
Stranger: I tracked down the Scud Saturn game a few months ago, actually. Their Scud kind of felt “off” to me for some reason, too short legs, somewhat bulky, his eyes kinda bug out, and where I was going for reflectivity, he always seemed to be either really reflective or not reflective at all. I also always felt like the animation missed out on one of the things that makes Scud’s design so great: The wildly expressive dynamic poses.
I’ll admit, somewhere in the back of my mind, I was looking to “fix” what I perceived as mistakes in the only 3D Scud interpretation I’d seen at the time (I’m sure once the deadline here is bearing down on me, I’ll become considerably humbled to the whole thing). The game’s beginning and ending had some great looking FMV’s for their time but I want to put their influence out of my mind as much as I can and interpret straight from the source material itself.
looking really good. Maybe we can show some of this at our booth at SDCC this year with SCUD action figures on hand. Also we’d love to get some more cgi scud shockini movies going as well.
Dude, That was seriously kick ass! After seeing your work, I know I’m going to have to step up my game quite a bit. But man, you’ve got serious skill. I hope you don’t mind one tiny crit. I don’t want to be “that guy” so don’t take this the wrong way. I think on the walk cycle, you flip his toes up either a little too high or a little too fast but other than that, you may just have this contest tied up already.
This work is really quite amazing, but I hope nobody is discouraged from entering the contest now. I know I really couldn’t make anything more impressive than that myself, but I still plan on making a kick ass vid, and I hope to see a shitload of other kick ass vids to be shown along with mine.
Shocker: That would be awesome! I’m totally game for showing some of this at the Con if you are. And if you ever need another 3D artist for the Shockini movies, you know where to find me.
I’m, uh…I’m pretty jealous of this guys talent. It scares me. The running Scud looks awesome, as does the gun sequence.
Holy shit.

Great Job dude! Looks awesome!
Thanks for posting this up, Rob. I hadn’t checked in today so I actually heard about you posting these from my friend’s blog: http://fuzzytypewriter.wordpress.com/2008/04/26/neuropolis-vlog/ Was a pretty cool surprise.

Well, I’m clearly not going to win based on 3d modeling and motion skills.
Here comes style.
