When I was 11 I became obsessed with your work. I had acquired all your T-shirts, anything to do with the Alewives, I owned every comic Fireman Press published. I sewed you a Drywall I had cut out of foam and I mailed it to you, along with pictures I had drawn. I called the Press all of 4 times, and once, likely in 1998 though I don't recall, Dan Harmon spoke to me about how your (which I assume is now singular)work had taken you into movies, where you'd remain. He told me that you had written a movie called "Monster House." It blew my mind when I saw the first poster for it at AMC Boston. I figured there was no way it could've been my childhood idols. But sure enough. Anyway, took long enough, you lazy assholes. Fondly, Danbury.

Rob, I went to see this this weekend in 3D (which is odd for me because I HATE these 3D talking animal movies, but gave this one a chance cuz I loved THE INCREDIBLES and it began to look like the only other 3D movie revolving around ACTUAL HUMANS that has ever interested me.)
I have to say...
1. WE LOVED IT.
2. WE WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN.
3. WE HAD NO IDEA YOU HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT AND WERE VERY SURPRISED TO SEE YOUR NAME AT THE END.

I hope you are staisfied that it retained some of your script (I have no way of knowing).
In case you don't remember, we had that little project together at that little network I worked at that of course went nowhere because it was good.

This was great. I'm really curious to know how extensively this was rewritten and how much of the original script remains...

Ebert and Roeper made sweet, sweet love to this movie. That can't be too bad, then.

I believe, Rob! I believe! :)

And I don't know Art... Pixar lost me with "Cars." I just didn't want to see a feature length Chevron ad. :p

Meanwhile, Dreamworks has a pretty good record with Shrek, Madagascar and Over the Hedge.

Wait, so you’re still getting writing credits for this right? I saw a trailer for it not too long ago and thought it looked alright. I’m sure story wise, if it’s got enough of you two in it left, its fantastic, but its CG. It seems like only Pixar can pull that stuff off. Either way, you’re sharing your name with Spielberg and Zemeckis up there on those credits. How sweet is that?

Beetle Juice theme???

I see this and I think Goonies or Monster Squad...now we'll see if it can compare. Hope they left enough of your work intact to the Schrab shine through!

I'm surprised that the name wasn't changed because of the TV show.

I saw the trailer a while back, it looked interesting, but I wasn't exactly planning on seeing it. Then later on, I was browsing the lobby posters in the theater when I spotted your names on the teaser. First I thought, EGAD, they're alive! ;)

Next I thought... I don't know... it doesn't seem like Rob Schrab characters...

Never the less, I'm sure I'll see it despite the fact that you didn't have more of a hands-on connection. :)
